Awaken Your Inner Goddess: Self-Love Herbs for Divine Feminine Energy

If you scroll through Instagram long enough, you will undoubtedly come across an ad for a beauty product that will invoke your inner goddess. I find it beyond frustrating that divine feminine energy has become such a throwaway commodity-selling concept when it is such an important aspect of being a whole and empowered woman.

The Truth About Divine Feminine Energy

Divine Feminine energy is not confined to a specific gender; it resides within all of us. It is intuitive, creative, and empathic energy, all traditionally feminine attributes—and all attributes that are stifled in our modern, patriarchal world. That's why it makes me so cranky when I see beauty companies (and fashion and wellness and fitness companies, the list goes on and on) selling goddess energy or divine feminine energy in a bottle.

The truth is, feeling confident enough in yourself to allow your inner goddess the space to shine takes work. It begins with the often mammoth task of unlearning the stories we've been taught about what it means to be a woman. It takes so much commitment to personal growth to discard society's conditioning that we are the "weaker sex," that it's not okay for us to express our anger or disappointment, or that it is our purpose in life to lose ourselves in service to our families.

From personal experience, I know that standing in goddess energy (and staying there) is a constant process of self-honoring. Being confident that my divine feminine energy will be front and centre in my healing work requires regular self-love practices.

This plant spirit medicine practice, which I'm sharing with you today, is one of my favourite ways to stay grounded while also tending to my heart and intuitive self.

Goddess Energy Spiritual Shower

Before I share this beautiful practice with you, let me talk a little about the medicine of the 2 plants we'll be using in our spiritual shower.

Tulsi and Lavender, the Self-Love Plants

Tulsi is believed to be the physical manifestation of the Hindu Goddess Lakshmi, the Goddess of Abundance. Tulsi is a Rayasanic herb, which means she can balance all the chakras. Beautiful Tulsi carries the vibration of the divine mother. She opens our hearts to compassion and trust and awakens us to our divine nature.

Lavender is the queen of energy shifting. She has the power to clear negative energy from your energy field while gently grounding you and reminding you that you are loved and supported. Lavender is your plant ally for self-love, opening and cleansing all of your chakras. She will elevate you to a state of higher consciousness.

Tulsi and Lavender are grounding plants with strong affinities for our crown chakra. Bathing in the energy of these two majestic plants will simultaneously connect you to the earth and lift your spirit towards the heavens.

Your Plant Spirit Medicine To Awaken Your Inner Goddess

This practice is so simple but also a delicious act of self-love.

  • 20 minutes before a shower, brew 1 tablespoon of Tulsi and 1/2 tablespoon of Lavender in 1 litre of hot water. Use a heatproof jug with a lid.

  • Before stepping into your shower, strain the plants and add cold water if needed. You want the water to be warm but not scalding.

  • After your shower, turn off the water, remove the lid from your infusion and bring it to your face, breathe in the scent of the herbal infusion, and invite the spirits of Tulsi and Lavender to cleanse you of any energy that is not serving your highest self. Ask them to remind you of your divine feminine energy and to give strength to your inner goddess. Then, pour the whole bowl of deliciousness over your head.

  • Wait a few moments before leaving the shower. Stand in the energy of these beautiful self-love plants; linger in their power as long as you can. Listen for any whispered messages they may share with you.

  • When you feel ready, step out of your shower and gently pat yourself dry.

  • Repeat weekly or even daily.

This practice will ground you while simultaneously elevating your spirit. The sweet perfume of these fragrant flowers will linger on your skin, reminding you how loved and powerful you are throughout your day.
